    Description

I am selling a Vintage/Antique Cast Iron Teapot or Tetsubin as they refer to them in Japan. It is about 6 1/2 in diameter (not including the pouring spout) and stands about 5 1/2" high with the lid on (not including the handle).  It is beautifully made, is signed in Japanese and is HEAVY in that it weighs almost 5 pounds. However, it is nicely weighted and the handle is smooth and easy to hold on and control.
It is in very nice condition and shows no rust that I can see and my mother who gave it to me, took great care of it as she did all her possessions.
I would describe the color as a "dark orangey red color". The lid fits very nicely and stays securely in place when pouring. As you can see from the pictures, the tea infusing basket it is in excellent shape and is quite large. The tea basket fits securely as well with the lid in place. I have taken a picture of the tea basket from the bottom and the side. It appears to be made of a nice stainless metal and is very clean as you can see from the pictures.
I measured the volume and the teapot appears to hold approximately 4 3/4 cups of liquid.
Under the spout there are some Japanese symbols, the signature, that you will see in my pictures. On the lower side edge, directly under the handle, it also says, "Made in Japan".
This has been in my family for years and was passed down to me. It has been very well cared for.
We are downsizing however and since I rarely drink hot tea, I am selling it. Please do not think because my asking price is low that this is not a quality teapot because it is.  My lower asking price merely reflects my need to pare down our possessions quickly in preparation for downsizing.
Feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase. Also note that I do not accept foreign transactions or foreign credit cards. The pictures are part of the description so please look at them. I have attempted to show all sides of the teapot so you could see its condition.
    Thanks for looking!
