Beautifully designed teapot titled "Maple Foliage Squared Red Clay Teapot" (紅葉彫四方朱泥茶注) by one of the premier artists of the modern era Tokoname Ware, Inaba Sekisui that features gorgeously vibrant and incredibly detailed Japanese Maple leaves throughout the piece!
Tokoname Ware is unglazed and the clay is known to improve the flavor of the tea more than any other type of pottery, with each individual color of the clay (Red, Black, "Bird" or Dark Green, Brown, etc.) having its own unique effect on the flavor
Artist mark on the bottom of the handle
Japanese teapots that are able to stand upright on its side handle are considered to be very well-balanced, easy to handle, and generally well-made, although some teapots will not stand upright by design and it isn't a definitive factor in practicality (please refer to the last image).
