May 01, 1953: Singer Paul Robeson addresses crowd gathered in Union Square in New York City, for May Day rally, with huge poster in background showing Russian premier Malenkov shaking hands with President Eisenhower, inscribed at bottom "Let's make it happen again." The rally was permitted after police denied a permit for usual May Day parade on grounds it has been turned into a Communist march. Photo is 8 inches by 10 inches in size.
