Large Brass Ships 19" Dock Cleat heavy old antique nautical maritime boat decor

Large brass mooring cleat.  It is about 19 inches in length and 6 inches wide.  It is heavy, weighing around 8 1/4 pounds. The beautiful working patina is original and tells the story of a hard life at sea.  This piece comes from what is left of the dock railways in Engelhard, NC.  Once a center of heavy activity in the 1970s, they have long since been closed, leaving behind only iconic sea battered structures.  Remnants of ghost gray paint gives the clue that it was most likely attached to the boat.  It is a beautiful and timeless display piece of nautical decor.
