First announced in the United States during the 4th quarter of 2014 and showcased at the 2015 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the Heckler & Koch VP9 semi-automatic pistol is the company's first striker-fired design ever since the venerable VP-70 and P7 lines.
At the 2015 edition of the IWA OutdoorClassics show in Nuremberg, Germany, the VP9 has been finally launched officially for the European market. With a few distinctive twists.
First of all, the official denomination for the VP9 in Europe will be SFP9.
Second, while the VP9 came with a double action trigger, the Heckler & Koch SFP9 will come in two distinct variant: the "Special Forces" oriented SFP9-SF sports a 24N single-action trigger, offering a 6mm travel and a 3mm reset, and a pre-cocked striker, while the SFP9-TR comes with a heavier trigger and a longer travel and reset to meet the German Police standards.
Both come with a trigger safety and a plethora of internal safety systems, but with no manual safety whatsoever.
