Mexican artist, jeweler, and sculptor Sergio Bustamante is the most famous modern surrealist, and has been called “Mexican
Salvador Dali,” in that he uses a number of animal and cultural motifs in his jewelry.
Here he has crafted a colorful cross made of paper mache that has been set deep into a sterling silver cross, showing the Christian symbols of stigmata, mixed with the folk motifs of two fish, an "all-seeing eye, a rooster, two violet calla lilies and a bright sun overhead.  The piece measures approximately 62mm by 58mm and weighs 35.8 grams.

a Mexican Artist and sculptor. Bustamante was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa in 1949 and studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara.
Bustamante's first art exhibition showcased paintings and papier-mâché figures at the Galeria Misracha in Mexico City in 1966. In 1975, Bustamante was part of a group of artists that established the "Family Workshop Studio'' in Jalisco, Mexico. In the mid-1970s, his practice expanded to include wood and bronze sculpture.”
Not limited to sculpture as an artist, he soon segued to making one-of-a-kind furniture and jewelry that featured faces, moon and sun motifs, suggesting a kind of Daliesque vibe.
