Description
This is a F. Besson "Prototype" Bb Cornet with serial #: 35986 (made circa 1886). Valve top and bottom cups numbered 13, 14, 15. This beautiful antique "40 Medals of Honour" series, with the "shephard's hook" bend, has a few dents, but none effecting the playing of the instrument and they look to be repairable. Valves move smoothly, and all slides remove easily. The cork is still present in spit stopper and valves, and the felt cushions in the valves are also present. Very nice shape for its age. This cornet made at 198 Euston Road, London, England and then was sent to the U.S.A. to be sold at Carl Fischer's Music in New York City. And dont forget the nice floral engravings (or perhaps a portrait of "Bill D. Cat" from the ol' Outland cartoons?? J/k haha). Comes with original case that came with the instrument when purchased in NY. Its been a while since band in high school, but I remembered a couple of scales lol, miss the sound of a cornet!
