    Description

    A Beauty from the past .A Hand Carved Newel Post; late 19th / early 20th, century .We purchased this beauty years ago and were told it came out of a bar / hotel in the Carolinas late 1800's early 1900's.We are uncertain on it's age ,but are very certain on the beauty of  the master carving of this piece. It measures 49 inches tall and was carved from a 4 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches piece of wood . We believe the wood could be Chestnut? The Newel Post is heavy & beautiful . Please view all pictures closely ,see how this Indian sits on the burro / donkey with beautiful proportion , very dimensional. A real mastery of carving.
