Antique Black Americana Hitching Post

Description

This is a unique two part casting of a Black Man Head atop an iron hitching post. The ring in his mouth is to tie the horse to holding it in place. The paint has been touched up sometime during it's useful life but retains the original color scheme. The unique cast and painted pointed collar is unique. The post is in excellent condition and slips easily onto the iron pole stand. This is from the late 1800's and was most likely cast in Philadelphia.
The post is 46 1/2" tall the head is 5" wide x 6 1/2' high and 5" deep.
